At some point in your life, you have said over and over again something along the lines of "I need to workout more." "I want to look like this." "I need to eat better." Everyone does it most might not admit it but they have. Getting started on a new fitness journey is not easy by any means but you have to know that it is possible.  Here are my Five Steps to getting started on a new fitness journey and a new road to a better you!

Step One: Stop Saying "I want to" and "I need to" Just start DOING!

One of the biggest things I have learned is that the more you keep telling yourself you WILL , WANT and NEED to do something the more you put it off. Stop telling your self that and start telling your self that you ARE going to do it, Once you get past putting it off and you fully commit yourself into doing something then go to Step 2.

Step Two: Don't Be Afraid To Reach Out For Help.

One major reason people quit on their goals is because they have NO idea of what to do and where to start. Don't be afraid to find a Trainer / Nutritionist (Make sure you do your research first). A trainer can be very useful in helping you learn exercises, learn about food, and giving you that swift kick in the butt to get moving. Stay with the trainer as long as you need to so you can feel comfortable in the gym doing the workouts on your own. If you need a constant motivation and push, then stay with that trainer as long as you can but make sure the trainer is looking out for your best interest.

Step Three: Find a Friend or Family Member to Workout With:

Having a friend or family member going through the workouts with you can be EXTREMELY beneficial to you sticking to your goals and program. Not only do you have someone doing it with you but you also have someone to hold you accountable and to motivate you when you feel like giving up. Just like that person is there for you, you also need to be there for that person. Don't just pick a random friend, find someone that has similar goals to yours so you both can tackle them together!

Step Four: Stay Consistent and Set Mini Goals to Reach The Big Goals.

Consistency is KEY. You always hear people say "Diet is 60% of it and Workouts are 30% of it then 10% is Mental." I'm sorry to tell you that is not the case, EVERYTHING needs to be done at 100%. NUTRITION is 100%, WORKOUTS are 100%, POSITIVE MENTALITY is 100% of it. When i say consistency is KEY I don't mean that its not alright to have a cheat meal (if your trainer approves) every once and a while or enjoy yourself a little bit, because trust me everyone needs a small break every now and then but you can't let that small break turn in to a binge. That's when the MENTAL game comes in to play, set a limit on yourself and once you reach that limit STOP. Then the next day get back on the Grind! Also, set little mini goals that will eventually lead you to your main goal. If you set a goal too high, you could easily get discouraged and stop working as hard. But once you reach those small goals, be proud of yourself of course but keep on going don't just settle for that. Keep working and keep fighting to reach that ultimate goal that you set for yourself. Before you know it, YOU will be there!!!
